BETA IMEI registration is now closed.  Thanks for your participation.

Tizen Community members: Here is your chance to get a preview of the current version of Tizen 2.4(beta)  for Z1.
(while the final OS upgrade of 2.4 for Z1 is almost there...)

Upgrade your Z1 to this version of Tizen 2.4 release and share your feedback by replying to this post.

Click here to read the instructions and register your IMEI to receive the update via FOTA

NOTE: After submission, registration of IMEI and update avaiability takes about 1 working day.
(once again, this is limited only to users that have Z1 India software revision)

the super geeks are going to love this but what's the purpose? to create more confusion and problems for normal z1 users? to delay Tizen 2.4 even more? what about users who don't have a PC? what about Bangladesh? do you really need a beta test, more than 2 months after the z3 release??

Tizen is essentially about simplicity: it would have been much easier for everyone to announce a date for the Tizen 2.4 update like Monday, 11 January 2016, for instance

Advantages outweigh the downsides.  The instructions(page 2) has the limitations known thus far(pasted here for easy reference):
Some of the apps that work in 2.3 might not work on 2.4(this depends on the app's compatibility between these 2 OS versions).
Facebook services & ACL might need an upgrade update to Tizen 2.4.
Joy Box stubs that were not installed in 2.3 would be removed on update to 2.4
As this is still a beta version, some of the apps that are visible on official version(2.3 BOK2) may not be visible on the store yet.

There have been plenty of requests on the other thread for 2.4 on Z1.
This is a chance to get a preview of how its shaping up and give feedback on how it works.

Absurd in your point of view, but its upto other users who are eagerly waiting for latest 2.4 on Z1 to decide.  Eventually its the users choice on whether to pick it up or not.

However we are eager as always to share and get community members valuable feedback.

Last date of registration has not mentioned anywhere. It is important to know because Z1 is not on my hand ATM. Perhaps I'll be able to use my Z1 day after tomorrow. Moreover 2.4 is still running on my Z1 and need to downgrade H1 and then to K2.

"Some of the apps that work in 2.3 might not work on 2.4(this depends on the app's compatibility between these 2 OS versions)."
99% of the users don't read the instructions: this is going to be a disaster

Agree to a certain extent, however putting all the pre-requisites/new features/upgrade/rollback here in one thread would have made it too long.  For those used to BETA, the instructions are same as the last time.

@Jahidul, last date has not been decided yet.  Not to worry, this will be open by the time you get your hands on Z1 in 2 days time.
You can rollback to BOH1(via KIES)->update to BOK2(FOTA)->2.4 COL5(FOTA)

yes but ALL users will be involved in this mess, guaranteed !

my question is : do you still need a beta, 2 months after the z3 release ??

Most people with Z1(and without Z3) get an opportunity to try it out.

Thanks.
I'll choose Odin. Because H1 and K2 already stored in my laptop and needs only half an hour for update process. So waiting for way to home...

IMEIs registered so far have been enabled to get the software update.
Go to Settings->About Device->software update->Update, download the update.

do you still need a beta, 2 months after the z3 release ??

We had some learnings from last beta and this is improvement on it.
Learning 1 : We did the beta too early probably is should have been an Alpha.

Learning 2 : The response exceeded our expectations in terms of people who registered. Initially like you we thought that only handful of people who "we" think as early adopters or technically inclined will try however we found that general users are also interested and that was cause of expectation mismatch.

Lesson learnt that pool of users who want to try beta are far bigger then what we think.

Learning 3 : ( From Z3) 3rd party Applications take time to stabilize there were lots of WhatsApp group hangs and these hangs were mostly depending on messages ( sent in Indian languages) or emoticons so FB needed the offending messages to dbug and fix.
Internal users helped a lot to iron out these kind of issues,  An end user beta is very much needed for finding our these kind of real world usage issues.
