Apps for reading ebooks
« On:October 26, 2015, 10:30:42 AM »
I searched for any ebook reading related apps in Tizen app store but could not find one.
It would be really great to support new beautiful Z3 phone with ebook reading apps such as kindle, ePub reader etc.

These apps will definitely help to improve end user reading experience on new big screen devices.

Very true. The existing pdf reader is also not very good. Is there an alternate pdf reader atleast ?

Agreed. This is the best EPUB3 reader: http://publizard.com/reader/
It also fully supports legacy EPUB2 books, Adobe PDFs and Comic book archives.
And it's a HTML5 app: perfect for Tizen ;)

Native apps would always load faster. But what if we can get Adobe to optimize their Reader app for Tizen. 😀

There are 3 main formats for ebooks:

1) EPUB3, which is a worldwide standard;
EPUB3 is based on HTML5 so the Bureau Van Dijk Reader is by far the best option and with minimal porting effort, since HTML5 is at home on Tizen http://publizard.com/reader/

2) Amazon's Kindle Format, which is proprietary.

3) PDF: Mozilla's library is excellent https://developer.tizen.org/community/tip-tech/displaying-pdf-files-pdf.js-library

All EPUB3 readers are based on Readium, which is open source ;)
http://readium.org/ (Adobe is a member btw)

Fast & Agile Adobe Reader - MUST for all big screen phones
« Reply #6 On:November 20, 2015, 04:17:14 PM »
Hello Everyone

I 've been using z3 for a while now. I miss a good pdf viewer. There is a primitive pdf viewer bundled with z3 but the viewer is unable to load a huge ebook of 1000+ pages.

Kindly negotiate with Adobe /or get some open source pdf viewer that is fast & agile (navigate across pages fast).

Having a big screen without a good pdf viewer is a big thumbs-down.

Thanks

Prahalad.
