Not able to use UDSM (ultra data saving mode)
« On:December 14, 2015, 10:13:48 PM »
Using Samsung Z3 is very nice experience for me. Good battery life, smooth and silky UI.

It also has UDS (ultra data saving) mode which saves data when on mobile networks by compressing data. I think it is very good feature.

Unfortunately I'mnot able to use it.
I am able to enable UDS mode but not able to select apps. They are not listed.

Please give me a solution which doesn't involve resetting the phone.

I did the same Amit, but as you can see from my attached screenshot the apps which I'm going to choose are not listed there.

Hi Vikram,
  Very strange to hear this situation. Never faced such issue with my Z3, also not heard such issue from others till now. Even if user uninstalls most of the possible apps, even then "Select apps" list should show minimal internet related services under it. So, can presume no settings related issue here.

Are you facing this issue always? or occurred only once? Pls clarify.

If you are still facing the issue, it would be good if you can attach log dump. This can help to check and rule out if there is any delay in loading the apps in this particular scenario.
1. As soon as you encounter the problem, press this key combination *#9900#
2. Select Run LOG_DUMP
3. Once this activity gets over, Connect your device to PC/Laptop via USB.
4. Go to Phone->SLP_debug.
5. Copy the file(s) in this folder(usually they are named log_dump_yyyymmddhhmmss.tar.gz). Attach and Reply.

Thanks.

@Vidya Sagar, since the issue is consistant and not popping up any error message, in which case I would have sent log dump using "Tell us" app.

I navigated to the uds settings and app selection page. From there I have dumped these logs.
Attached it as per your suggestion.
Thanks.
Please get back.

@Vikram Dattu, thanks for reporting this problem.  Devs are working on this now.
BTW, did you move any apps to SD card?  If so, can you uninstall them and try whether UDSM shows up fine?

Yup, I had some(15) apps installed on SD card. (I have had changed default install location to SD card).
Uninstalled all the 15 apps which were installed on SD card, and UDS is showing app list now. :)

@Zed,
But, I think I am forced to install all the apps to internal memory till the update with the fix comes. :(
Isn't it?

List of apps those were on SD and I uninstalled : 1. IndicKeypad 2.HinKhoj 3.StarDict 4.vlc 5.gaana 6.AIDA64 7.SHAREit 8.SShare 9.ZapyaWebShare 10.CouponDunia 11. FederalIndia 12. Flipkart 13. SScanner.

That's a huge list !

I reinstalled SHAREit and Flipkart apps(these are acl apps, if that's of any relevance) again on SD card and interestingly, all other installed apps( those are on device storage) are listed under UDS select app list. Only those installed later(SHAREit and Flipkart) are not listed.  ???

Switched off, UDS mode, installed 2 more apps(gaana and vlc), Enabled UDS mode complete list disappeared again.

Moved gaana and vlc to device storage, Disabled and enabled UDS, again list appeared.

@Vikram, from the trials so far the UDSM apps list does not list any of the apps starting from the first instance of an app thats in the SD card!(for example if you say have HinKhoj in the SD card, all apps from A-G will be listed and H onwards wont be listed even if the app is on the internal memory).

In that case "DropBox" (Alphabetically : D) should be listed in my Scenario, but it's not :-[ .

Attached two screenshots: One with gaana app(I chose it randomly) moved to SD and one with gaana moved to internal storage.
In SD case blank, But in internal memory case apps are listed.

Note that, in both the cases I've SHAREit and VLC installed on SD card.
